The Assessment
Free Initial Discussion

I'm here to help answer any questions you may have about dyslexia and the assessment process. Whether you prefer a face-to-face discussion, email, or a phone call, I'm happy to assist you. This conversation doesn't commit you to undergoing an assessment; you're free to decide if it's the right step for you.
The Assessment Process:

The assessment typically takes around 3 hours and is carried out at my home, which is located in Bishop's Stortford, near the East Hertfordshire/Essex border. Before the assessment, parents and the school fill out a questionnaire, providing background information, which must be returned 5 working days before the date of assessment. This ensures the assessment focuses on the learner's specific concerns.
The person being tested for dyslexia is required to have had an eye test within the last two years for the assessment to go ahead.
The assessment tests the following areas:

-
Cognitive abilities: including underlying ability, memory, phonological and visual processing
-
Literacy: assessing reading, comprehension, and spelling skills
-
Motor skills: evaluating handwriting and fine motor abilities

Cost: £520

What Next?

After completion, a detailed report is issued within 10 working days, following SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC) guidelines. It includes assessment results, conclusions, and recommended classroom strategies, access arrangements, as well as ways to support your learner at home.

When applying for the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA), you'll need to submit an assessment report meeting specific criteria. My diagnostic assessments are recognised for the DSA, providing the required evidence for eligibility. For further information about the Disabled Students' Allowance, visit DSA-GOV.UK.

If you would like verbal feedback or wish to discuss the report
further after reading it, we can arrange this at no additional cost.
